Crate Builder/Carpenter
Job Summary
As a Carpenter at Baird and Wilson Sheetmetal, you will be responsible for designing and constructing custom crates used to transport and protect sheet metal products. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, woodworking expertise, and the ability to work efficiently to meet project deadlines.
*Training will be held in Sweetwater, TN for 4-6 Weeks. After training is complete, you will return to the main location in Knoxville, TN.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Construct custom wooden crates for shipping and storing sheet metal products.
- Measure, cut, and assemble materials according to specifications.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and other carpentry equipment safely and effectively.
- Collaborate with the production team to ensure crates meet shipping and protection requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Follow safety protocols and company guidelines at all times.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a carpenter or woodworker.
- Strong understanding of carpentry techniques and tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints or technical drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift and move materials as needed.
- Familiarity with crate construction or packaging work is a plus.
- Knowledge of sheet metal or industrial environments is preferred but not required.
